Do you know about the Aluxes?
The story tells about Nohpat, in Yucatan, land of the "Sayam winikies", gifted by the gods, creators of "the little people of the forest" using maize dough grounded and forming dolls that they placed at the cardinal points: lakin (east), chikin (west), xaman (south) and nohol (nord). An offering made with "atole" presented in typical luch or jicaritas and mixed with drops of their blood brought this small and playful pixies to life after nine days.
Aluxes are associated with natural features and mischievous events. They play tricks lossing objetct around the house but also are guardians, driving away the animals from sown fields.
